Our Work & Latest News
As a result of the inspiration of Lamara. The ‘Lamara International Charitable Foundation’ was created. Lamara International Charitable Foundation is a private charity organisation funded primarily by Lamara’s family.
The Charity seeks to support children with cerebral palsy and other brain abnormalities with a special focus on countries of Former Soviet Union. However, we will strive to help anyone ‘underprivileged’ facing these medical conditions around the world. At present we are looking to establish contacts in Ukraine, Georgia and Russia helping children through local charities while also targeting specific care centres. Health institutes in those countries have extremely limited resources to allocate to children with disabilities. Children born with cerebral palsy are misdiagnosed and given the wrong treatment for their specific condition. Thus funding for suitable and most up-to-date medication is essential, combined with relevant tuition for health workers and doctors involved in the treatment programs.
Our desire is to also work with a number of UK charities focusing on care and medical research for children with cerebral palsy including SCOPE, Bobath (Children’s Therapy Centres) and CNS (Children’s Neurobiological Solutions). We have already made generous contribution to the Noah's Ark Children's Hospice (www.noahsarkhospice.org.uk) in the UK . In the process we seek to learn from the experience of large UK charities and use it in our support for children in less fortunate parts of the world.
The Charity’s fundamental aim is to see the care for children with brain abnormalities improving in the Former Soviet Union countries, giving them the quality of life they so dearly deserve.
In 2009 Lamara International Charity Foundational begun work with a German based Medical Health Agency (MHA GmbH). An arrangement was reached that individually selected cases of cerebral palsy and other brain abnormalities would be forwarded to this medical facility co-coordinated by Mr Mihail Zlatkin (Director of MHA) from Berlin and across Germany.
MHA will strive to diagnose and treat various conditions by directing the patient to the best specialists in the country. This process will be funded by the Charity by looking at each individual case.
Our Charities most recent case of young Eugenia Drozdova from Russia is documents on the website; she received radically improved treatment in the form of medication which helped improve her condition. This case highlights the true extent of the problem CIS counties face in terms of diagnosis and treatment of cerebral palsy and related conditions including standard epilepsy.
Such tremendous results from the first case will inspire the charity to involve more children from the CIS region as well as internationally to put them through a top European medical company in search of the best care and diagnosis possible.
